FIGHT IT! is a section of my website where there are stories from people currently fighting cancer, or have beat cancer, and want to share a story with the public. If you are battling your way through this horrifying disease, or know someone who is, read the stories posted here for inspiration to fight cancer, or to help encourage someone you know to.
Bonnie Fournier [R] is with her daughter Brittany.
Here is what Bonnie wrote for the Lowell General Hospital "Heartbeat" publication.
"I want everyone to know how thankful I am for your support, and for the wonderful friends that I have made over the years at Lowell General Hospital. My world completely changed when I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in June (2012), and I was scared and completely frightened of the unknown. As an employee, it was a very differnt and unnerving feeling coming to the hospital as a patient. When I first arrived here for my care, I was immediately put as ease. I was humbled, overwhelmed and extremely proud of all the support, compassionate care, and true professionalism that I received from the radiologists, physicians and staff. This level of care was something that I had never experienced and fortunately never needed before. From the moment of my diagnosis, I could tell this level of compassion came naturally to all those who helped me, and a level that every patient gets to experience.
Everyone that I continue to encounter goes above and beyond their call of duty to make my time as a patient less stressful. I am so proud to be a Lowell General employee and to be part of the wonderful family at the hospital. From the support from my co-workers, special cubicle neighbors, to the hugs from friends I have met here over the past 3 and 1/2 years, all of their encouragement gives me hope and has forever touched my heart.
Thanks to all for your kind prayers and wishes, and for giving me strength through this fight. I am so grateful to work for such a wonderful and caring organization, and to have co-workers that are truly like a family to me!"
